Text A What do you think of our new classmate? I like him. I keep wanting to call him by a different name, though, because he looks a bit like a boy at my reading club. Oh gosh! You'll surprise him if you do. Don't worry, I won't! He seemed quite shy at the beginning, like someone who prefers to work on their own in class, and finds it difficult to make new friends. But recently he's become much more talkative. Yes, and now he chats just as much as any of us. Maybe even more! Text B How was your school trip to Spain? Fantastic! What did you do? The seaside was amazing – there are hardly any people there and a lot of beautiful beaches... You can go around the country by train. But my teacher was brave and decided to hire a van, so we travelled around in it. We managed to get really close to nature that way. Once, we picked up some hikers and took them back to the city. They were very tired, but told us some great stories about the people of that region. Text C I was kept back a year at primary school but my best friend wasn't. It never used to bother me or her, but I joined her secondary school last year, and she seems embarrassed by me. She doesn't chat with me and even jokes that I'm slow, which really hurts. I don't want to lose her friendship, but she wants to hang out with the cool crowd. Text D How are things? Not great. I quarrelled with my school friend. I'm so sorry to hear that. It's never nice when that happens. Something similar happened to me once. It's fine now, and we get on really well. What should I do to make up with her? I believe you should call your friend and say sorry. I'm sure it's not all your fault, but just apologise for what you feel bad about. I think it will make things better between you. You have 15 seconds to complete the task. Now you will hear the texts again. Text A What do you think of our new classmate? I like him.
