Back in the days

Mummy was busy. She had friends coming to tea. They were new friends, and she wanted to (30) them, so she was baking a cake. In the kitchen, everything was spread out on the kitchen table—flour, butter, mixing bowls, a carton of eggs and a little trail of sugar leading to a small dollop of half mixed cake. Mummy had her apron on and her face was very pink.
