Life 100 Years Ago

Nowadays, there is a great \(\boxed{32}\) \(\underline{ }\) of entertainment for teenagers. They can visit different sports clubs, cinemas, theatres, museums and others. They can \(\boxed{33}\) \(\underline{ }\) the Internet and choose where to go the minute after they start searching. Moreover, there are plenty of activities for hobbies. Teens can take \(\boxed{34}\) \(\underline{ }\) active, creative or even business-related activities as their pastime. But what about teenagers of the past? For example, 100 years ago? What could they do? Their lives were not as interesting as the lives of modern teens. First of all, they had to work hard. Most people were still \(\boxed{35}\) \(\underline{ }\) , so they had to plough the soil, graze cattle and take care of the harvest. They had to wake up at the \(\boxed{36}\) \(\underline{ }\) of the dawn, so they did not stay up late. But of course, they were able to relax from time to time. In the country, they might go square dancing, sing or had some other activities.

Life in the city was different, anyway. In the city, you could go shopping or \(\boxed{37}\) \(\underline{ }\) in the park, go to concerts or to the same museums we go to today. People wrote letters and they had no choice but to wait for ages, sometimes, to wait for a reply. And people visited one another. There were parties to \(\boxed{38}\) \(\underline{ }\) , just like today, and band concerts. And then there were many other things that we still do today. Most everyone went to church on Sunday. People had hobbies, and hunted and fished, and went boating. Let's not forget about winter activities. Skating, skiing and sledging were among popular pastimes.

So, to sum up. Can we say that the life of teenagers and young adults was more boring than ours nowadays? Definitely not. As we see, they were even more active and communicated in real life even more often than we do.
