Chinese Family
Despite the fact that changes are taking place in China, as in any country of global importance family values and foundations remain the same. At the same time, Chinese families are still divided into traditional ones, in which several generations live in the same house, and modern ones only with parents and children.
The gender roles of the Chinese family are still divided. This means that the father or the oldest man is still the head of the family. Women are mainly engaged in the household and raising children. This has advantages since the father in such families is responsible for the future of the children. In Chinese families, it is customary for the father to pay for the education of children and support them until marriage. But at the same time, the father reserves the right to make decisions. After the marriage of the children, he loses the right to vote.
The role of women is expanding nowadays. Some women get a decent education and work in well-paid jobs.
Chinese traditional families are built in such a way that only a male child can inherit property, house and family land.
The values of the family are based on the religious doctrines of Confucianism. But do not forget about the legislative level of the family code. Everyone knows that during the reign of Mao Zedong and his followers, family reform took place. And it's not just about the one-child policy. The code clearly states all the rights and obligations of a family member.
Another important unshakable aspect of Chinese life is respect for elders. Respect for the future generation can be seen even by the example of the fact that the role of grandparents in the upbringing of grandchildren is very high.
Returning to the one-child policy, which ceased to exist in 2016, had its drawbacks and greatly influenced the appearance of the Chinese family. Abortions that women did when they found out that they were expecting a girl. The suicides of girls who are doomed to an unhappy poor existence. All these are consequences of politics. Now there can be two children in one family.
The relationship between parents and children is based on obedience. Therefore, parents are sometimes strict with their children.
In general, it is important that these family units are very important for the well-being of China, in which the basic education and knowledge about the world are laid, and whether the traditional or modern way of the Chinese family is not so important.
