Demid Pyanda

Demid Pyanda was a Russian 25._____________(EXPLORE) who discovered the Lena River in 1623. Very little is known about this man. His records have not survived, and the only 26._____________(INFORM) available about him was collected in the 18th century by a historian named Gerhardt Friedrich Müller.

No one knows Pyanda's real name, his birthplace and the place of his death, or his fate before or after the journey to the Lena. One of the theories assumes that Pyanda's name was Demid Sofonovich, another says that he was called Panteley Demidovich. What is considered his surname is 27._____________(ACTUAL) the name of the Pomor, the river on the banks of which Pyanda may have been born.
