Queen Elizabeth II celebrates two birthdays each year: her actual birthday on 21 April and her official birthday on the second Saturday in June. In June her official birthday is marked publicly with a big parade in London that is called Trooping the Colour.

Queen Elizabeth II has had a keen interest in horses since her early years. This interest has developed into one of her main leisure time activities. She particularly pays attention to the breeding of thoroughbred horses for racing. The Queen is a proud lover of horses. Queen Elizabeth II won a big horse racing in Ascot on June 20, 2013.

In 1940 Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret were moved for safety to Windsor Castle during the Blitz. Two Princesses put pantomimes for the Royal family and staff. The girls also knitted clothes for the evacuees, invited the bombed-out kids from the East End to have tea or to take part in Charity War Concert.

On Maundy Thursday Queen Elizabeth II hands out money and gifts to the pensioners in St George’s Chapel, Windsor. Traditionally, a monarch imitates Jesus Christ by washing the feet of the poor people and handing out clothes them on Maundy Thursday.

Queen Elizabeth II lives primarily in Buckingham Palace that is a residence and headquarters of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom nowadays. It was also the place where Princess Elizabeth was baptised as a baby.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis are adorable dogs with their big ears and with a cylindrical, fluffy shape. It's no surprise that they are Queen Elizabeth's II favourite breed.
