A parliamentary committee is a small group of the members which is created and is empowered by the House to perform one or more specific tasks with exceptions. There are many different types of committees and they are formed on a temporary or a permanent basis. They usually consist of the members who are drawn from all of the recognised parties in the House.
The British parliamentary committees also offer its more informal setting, in which the members have the opportunity to develop close working relations with their colleagues. Moreover, if they remain members of the same committees for a sufficient length of time, they are able to develop or to strengthen their expertise in the specific fields.
