A. These creatures appeared in numerous folk stories and were depicted as possessing power, magic and unusual strength. They are typically described as lizard-like creatures with big nostrils, breathing fire and smoke. Their long spiky tail, big claws and wide wings terrified every creature or human.

B. These creatures had the body, legs and the tail of a lion but, the head was of a human (a male or a female). His wings made him look gorgeous. The most famous representative was Thebes, who asked travellers a riddle. The one who solved the riddle could pass through the gates, those who didn't were killed.

C. The Greek believed these attractive half-women and half-bird creatures with wings and claws lured sailors to their deaths by making their ships head straight towards the island and crash them onto the rocks.

D. These creatures looked more like a horse. They had glossy white coats and blue eyes. The characteristic feature of them was a horn just in the middle of their foreheads. They were very strong, wild and fierce. According to the myth, if a person drank from their horn, they would be immune to all poisons.

E. This mythical monster had nine heads and looked like a snake. Each head was attached to a long neck, so if any of the heads was cut off, two would grow back in its place.

F. European folklore is rich in myths about human-like creatures. They are huge, tall, fat and ugly. Some of them had only one eye. As for their character, they were cruel, stupid and were fond of eating people.

G. These gigantic mythical creatures had lions' bodies and eagles' heads and wings, with pointed ears like a horse. They protected vast creatures with the speed and sight of an eagle and the strength and courage of the lion.

H. These half man and half horse mythical creatures were human from the waist up, with the body and legs of a horse. There were two types of creatures—wild and violent and gentle and wise.
