Renting a Flat in China
The realities of living next door to the Chinese are very different from a comfortable stay in a hotel or a student hostel for foreigners. I rented an apartment in an area where most houses are no more than five floors and are closely located to each other. There was a lot of transport waiting for me in front of the entrance: bicycles, scooters and bicycle carts. A completely normal smell near such houses is a terrible smell of rotten food, garbage and slops. In this sense, the urban landscape has a great contrast. You can turn the corner and find yourself among office skyscrapers, and then immediately get to the street buried in garbage. Even near apartment buildings, you can meet pets, such as chickens and ducks. At lunchtime, the whole house smells of Chinese food, as everyone starts cooking at the same time. Spicy, sour, bitter and other aromas filled even my apartment, although I didn't cook because I ate in the university cafeteria. All the clothes then smelled of food. In China, heating is turned on at the beginning of winter, and it becomes cold in the fall. Especially in autumn, strong winds blow. Therefore, it was very cold in my flat. I bought a portable heater. What I noticed: the Chinese rarely have pets, it is rare to see someone walking a dog. The Chinese are also noisy and like to let off fireworks and blow up firecrackers. I do not recommend going to China during the Chinese New Year period. If you are used to the quirks of the Chinese, then this vessel will not annoy you.
