Infinitive and -ing forms
Инфинитив (infinitive) или начальная форма глагола с частицей to используется для выражения цели; после глаголов agree, appear, decide, expect, hope, plan, promise, refuse, want, would like, would prefer, would love, to be made.
Example: She decided to buy a new dress.
Инфинитив или начальная форма глагола без частицы to используется после модальных глаголов и выражений would rather, had better.
Example: You may open the door.
You had better put on some weight.
-ing form или глагол с окончанием -ing используется после глаголов admit, appreciate, avoid, consider, continue, deny, fancy, imagine, mind, miss, practise, prevent, quit, save, suggest, spend, waste, lose.
Example: Do you fancy meeting me at the station?
