Transport in the UK

The most popular types of transport in the UK are cars, buses and trains.

Most people go to work by car. Cars are very useful, but they’re not good for the environment. In London, there’s a special tax for cars that go into the city centre.

Lots of people travel by bus in the UK, especially in big cities. Going by bus is cheap and there are lots of them. But it’s not always fast to go by bus. In busy traffic, buses can be slower than cars.

Trains are also very important and useful. The train network is very good and you can get to most places by train. Some people get to work by train every day. It is usually much faster to travel to work by train than by cars or buses.

There are also other types of transport in the UK. For example, many people travel by bike. Cycling is good for your health and it doesn’t cause pollution. Some people even cycle to work.

In big cities, some people travel by underground train. Underground trains are very fast because they don’t go on the roads. And in some parts of the country, people travel by boat. There are lots of rivers and canals in the UK and you can go on a boat trip in lots of different places.
