A) People in England like animals. Almost every family has a pet – a dog or a cat. Sometimes people have birds or hamsters as pets.

B) There are some special hospitals which help wild animals. For example, if you find an injured bird or fox you can take it to one of these hospitals.

C) Also there are a lot of English television films about wildlife. They are very popular with children and grown ups. You can watch these films and learn a lot of information about different animals. It's very interesting!

D)Nowadays many families in England have "bird tables" in their gardens. Birds can eat from them during the winter months, when there is not enough food.

E) The English often think their animals are like people. For example, in England some animals can have jobs like people. British Rail has cats and pays them for their work. There is usually one cat per station. Their job is to catch mice. For their work cats get food and medical help.

F) The cats at British Rail don't catch many mice but the travellers love them. They are really cute!
