We can't imagine our life without books. Books can be of different types: notebooks, student books, literature. Printing is a process for mass reproducing text and images using a master form or template. But how did the process of printing start?

[ ]
It is supposed that the history of printing started in East Asia, in China. Everything started with the woodblock printing technique of patterns and images on textiles. Only later, this process was transferred on paper. The first prints on cloth in China are dated to 220 AD. By the 9th century, the complete printed book appeared in China. After this achievement, printing expanded to Japan and Korea.

Later, block printing moved to Europe. By the mid-15th century, not only cloth printing but also book printing had become a common development. Books included not only texts but different images.

The new era started when the movable type of printing appeared. It provided much more opportunities for publishers. At first, porcelain was used for it. But as it can be broken easily, later it was changed to wood and metal type. By 1450, the first modern printing press was introduced in Europe. It was an innovation as it used a matrix. Soon movable type printing spread around the whole world.
