Read the cases of use of the tenses

The cases of use of the tenses:

A. an action that was in progress in the past and stopped just recently

B. an action that took place before another one in the past

C. a prolonged action that started in the past and continued up to the particular moment in the past

D. an action in progress in the past interrupted by another action

E. a chain of successive actions in the past

F. a simple complete action in the past

G. an action in progress happening at a particular period of time in the past

For each sentence choose the tense of the verb form in bold and the right case of use of the tense (A–G)

Gracie and Skyler's clothes were all dirty because they had been playing in the yard.
