The Mermaid Tale
A. Once upon a time, an evil and ruthless young man lived in the Baltic. He was a nobleman and therefore he got away with all his crimes. After many years of a carefree life, he became poor, but did not know where to get the money.
B. Once he saw a young girl in a jewellery store who was the daughter of a jeweller. He decided to lie to her and offered to marry him and flee the city. The girl did not suspect any evil and agreed. But before escaping, the groom asked her to take all her father's jewellery with her.
C. And then the night came. The girl collected all the jewellery from her father's store and ran to the sea, where they agreed to meet with the groom. They boarded the boat and swam into the sea. Suddenly the young man rose and threw his bride over the side of the boat and sailed with all the jewels to the nearest city. There he quickly sold everything and became rich again. He began to lead a luxurious lifestyle and go to balls.
D. A few years later, at one ball, he met a stunningly beautiful girl. She had big shiny eyes, curly golden hair, and cold hands. She did not eat or drink anything, but she sang charmingly. The evil man was fascinated by the stranger, and she paid attention only to him.
E. They went to the garden, and from there the girl asked to take her to the sea to look at the moonlight. By the sea, she began to sing a beautiful and sad song and slowly went into the water. The man followed her, fascinated by her singing. When he was almost completely in the water, he saw that the beautiful stranger had a fishtail, and when she turned around, he recognised the mermaid as his bride. He wanted to swim back, but it was too late. She grabbed him and carried him out to the sea with her.
F. The man woke up. It was just a dream. He sighed with relief and began to prepare for the ball, where his friend promised to introduce him to a beautiful stranger with cold hands who sang charmingly...
