- Listen and write the disasters the speakers mention
Speaker 1
The region where I live is very dry. We have very little rain during the year. That is why it is very difficult to grow vegetables or crops here as plants don't get enough water. In addition to that, they can be damaged by very strong winds. These winds are so dangerous that they can even destroy houses. No water and terrible winds can also sometimes make grass and bushes burn in my area.
Speaker 2
We have volcanoes in the area where I live, and they can become active. Some volcanoes are in the sea and if they wake up, it may cause big waves coming on our coast from the ocean! They can destroy houses, of course, but the most serious thing is that the water doesn't go away at once. Everything gets wet, and we have to use boats to move around.
Speaker 3
We live near the ocean, so quite naturally we have a lot of violent storms with very strong winds coming from it. One day I experienced an unusual disaster, though. It was a typical school day. I was sitting in a lesson when the ground started shaking and everything in the classroom started moving! We were told to hide under our desks. In a minute the ground stopped moving and we were safe.
