Elephants are one of the most amazing animals in the world. Gentle giants — that’s what they are called. They are the largest land animals. A male African elephant can be \(3\) metres tall. Asian ones are of a smaller size. Elephants are intelligent creatures — they can use not only their trunk, but also tools like tree branches. They are social animals and have strong family ties. The oldest female elephant leads the clan. There are usually from \(6\) to \(7\) members in the family.
Elephant memory is amazing, they are good at remembering and recognising each other even after a long time apart.
These creatures have a huge impact on their ecosystem.
Both African and Asian elephants are endangered. There are only about \(40000\) of them left in the wild.
