Have you ever heard about the Faroe Islands? It is an autonomous territory, which of 18 islands of volcanic origin, within the Kingdom of Denmark. The archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean about halfway between Iceland and Norway.
The Faroe Islands are famous worldwide for their picturesque landscapes. Tourists by sheer cliffs and mountains, green meadows and valleys, countless species of birds, and other wildlife. Even the domestic animals are unique there. They a result of 1,200 years of completely isolated breeding. That is why plenty of local domestic animals like cows, ponies, ducks and geese only in the Faroe Islands and nowhere else.
Tourists quite often come to the Islands for active holidays and to experience untouched nature. The most popular activities are hiking, birdwatching, diving, horse riding, sailing and fishing. However, it is crucially important to plan the stay in advance and be well-prepared for the trip. Some hiking routes on steep slopes where the surface might be uneven. Following such routes can be difficult depending on whether a hiker is in a good shape or not. Also, warm waterproof clothes are essential in the Faroe Islands, as the climate there is subpolar oceanic, so it is usually windy, wet, and cloudy. The temperature usually between 5 and 14 degrees Celsius.
