Orangi Town

Orangi Town is situated in Pakistan and is considered the largest slum in the world. Although it is not as poor as other shanty towns, the [ ] (RESIDE) of Orangi Town struggle with a lack of access to basic [ ] (AMENABLE) and services.

Water scarcity is one of the most pressing problems in Orangi Town. The town depends heavily on the Hub Dam, which is unfortunately [ ] (RELIABLE) at providing sufficient water. The other canals contain many toxic substances. Water quality is the cause of 40 percent of deaths in Pakistan and a major cause of child mortality.

Like many other slums in the world, Orangi Town has a housing problem. And the reason is often not a lack of money, but a lack of space to build houses. As a result, rooms are [ ] (CROWDED).

The [ ] (DWELL) of Orangi Town were tired of the government's indifference. So, in 2001 Orangi was formally organised and established as a separate part of the city of Karachi. They also founded their own town council.
