As a teenager, I wasn't eager to do a [challenging|reliable] job. My salary was the most important thing for me. It seemed reasonable to me to work four or five hours per day and get a lot of money. But as time goes by, I feel an increasing need for a delightful work.
As you know, it's not easy to find a [well-paid|low-paid] job without any experience and knowledge. All my life, I've been dreaming of working in the medical sphere. It requires interpersonal skills, patience, intense concentration and friendly bedside manners. Firstly, I wanted to try working as a nurse and see how [suitable|convenient] this position is for me. I was lucky, and my neighbour, Dr Brown, found a job for me in a local clinic. I started working as a hospital orderly.
I didn't have many duties. I just washed the floor, brought food to the patients, made their beds and talked with them. Some of them didn't go outside, so I told them the fresh news and read books out loud. Sometimes Dr Stevenson [ruled|allowed] me to write down prescriptions and take notes of the patients' temperature in their public health-care cards. I was [low|highly] motivated because all the patients were friendly and grateful. It was a part-time employment for me, so I could spend some hours with my family in the evening.
After school, I entered University to become a nurse. Nowadays, I believe that it's much more important to be useful for people and to [maintain|cope] a balance between your private life and work than earn a lot of money and spend all time working.
