A surprise trip
On Wednesday, July 1th, I got up at 6 a.m and [woke|waken|was waking] up my 6-year-old daughter Liz who [slept|had slept|was sleeping] beside me. She had no idea that I was taking her to Disneyland in Paris — it was my present for her birthday. The night before I [was telling|told|had told] her that we were going somewhere to get her birthday present, so she did not object to being woken up in the middle of the night. However, when we [arrived|were arriving|were arrived] at the airport, the problems started. Just when we [were boarding|boarding|had boarding] the plane, I realised that I [forgot|had forgotten|was forgetting] the tickets to Disneyland! I quickly called my wife, but the tickets were apparently not where I [was leaving|left|had left] them in the morning.I was still whispering in the phone (not to spoil the surprise for Liz) when the flight attendant [asked|had asked|was asking] me to turn off my mobile. What could I do? The plane was taking off and at that very moment I regretted that I [had gone|went|was going] to the trouble of organising our trip. Just when I [thought|had been thinking|was thinking] how to break the news to Liz, I felt something under my thighs. I reached for it, and there were the tickets! They [lied|had lied|were lying] on the seat and I had been sitting on them the whole time!
