Strategies and useful tips
- Read the statements very carefully and point out the keywords to help you focus on what to listen for.
- The questions follow the order of the information in the recording.
- Do not confuse FALSE and NOT STATED. Be particularly careful with Not stated answers: information about this is just not in the text.
- Remember that answers should be based on information in the text, not what you personally think or know.
- If any of the statements are connected with feelings/opinions, think about how these might be expressed.
- Be careful with negatives in the statements.
- Listen and begin answering. Don't expect to be able to answer everything during the first listen. Finish answering when listening for the second time.
- Check your answers: have you answered every question?

Sam: Hi, Jessica. Everything is fine, but I haven't finished it yet.
Jessica: Oh, what a pity! Do you need any help?
Sam: Oh no, thank you. I collected some data on the topic of city infrastructure. According to the latest statistics every year the city builds several new schools and hospitals.
Jessica: Wow! Sounds amazing! Why is it so?
Sam: The city is growing rapidly. Last year, for instance, two new districts appeared. So, as you see these neighbourhoods must have a well-developed infrastructure.
Jessica: Where did you get this information?
Sam: This data is open to the public on the government official website. They provide a full report of all events and measures taken at the end of the current year.
Jessica: You are talking about positive sides but I heard that several meetings were organized in the suburbs as citizens are not happy with their infrastructure.
Sam: Unfortunately yes. Still, there is a big problem in the suburbs. These districts are usually quite small in area and it is physically impossible to build something new. And new districts are designed according to the latest standards. By the way, if I'm not mistaken you've recently moved to the city centre with your parents.
Jessica: Yeah, you are right. And I'm really happy with my parents' decision.
Sam: Are you happy with the conveniences?
Jessica: I'm one hundred per cent happy with everything. Especially with the accessibility of all necessary things. Why don't you visit our neighbourhood? Maybe, you can take some pictures and include them in your presentation?
Sam: Hmm… I haven't thought about it but it can work out. Thanks for the idea.
Jessica: When is the deadline? Do you still have some time to finish?
Sam: The project must be completed by the end of next week. So I still have some time left.
Jessica: If you need any help just tell me. I'm always ready to assist if necessary.
Sam: OK! Thanks! I'll message you tomorrow.
Jessica: So see you tomorrow!
