Strategies and useful tips

  • Recommended time to fulfil the task is 10 minutes!
  • The first thing you need to do is to read the titles very carefully and translate them. Try to keep them in mind while doing the task.
  • You don't need to read all the texts very carefully. Your aim is to understand the main idea.
  • Most often key information can be found in the very first and last sentences of the texts.
  • The heading must be the one that best covers the main topic, so you need to make sure that the heading you have chosen fits the meaning of the whole mini text, and doesn't just simply use some of the same words.
  • Very often you will not find the same words in the texts and titles, so pay attention to synonyms.
  • If necessary highlight the keywords in the texts.
  • Remember! There is one extra title that you do not use.
  1. Will Soon Become the New Black
  2. Spectacular Art
  3. Picture Flash Mob
  4. Bonus for Residents of the Capital
  5. Reflection of the Problems of Reality
  6. Additional Education
  7. Rethinking the Meaning of Art
  8. Hidden Meanings

A. During the pandemic, a cool flash mob dedicated to art was created on social networks. The essence of the flash mob was that each participant chooses a picture and recreates it in a photo with attributes, clothes, in order to get as close as possible to the real picture. Thus, people usefully spent time, and also learned about different paintings. Someone guessed famous paintings from photographs.

B. Everyone knows that there are a great many different museums, galleries and exhibitions in Moscow. The city government has launched a special Pushkin ticket, which allows you to freely visit all the cultural attractions of the capital. It's a great idea to spend a weekend with benefits and completely free!

C. I love classical art because it is very symbolic. For example, many artists, while painting a picture, hid a lot of references to politics and culture there. Many symbols are still unsolved. For example, Borges' paintings are a detailed canvas that you can look at for hours and find something new in it every time. Modern art is not capable of this.

D. When we talk about contemporary art, interesting materials for drawing, including people, come to my mind. But in the direction of such innovations, people act in different ways. Someone fully supports these ideas, for someone it goes beyond the concepts of art. Maybe someday this art will also become a classic.

E. Recently, light performances have become very popular. It's a very unique idea because it's realistic and modern. Recently we watched a similar installation on Mamayev Kurgan. We were told about the war, how the statue was built. Sound and special effects brought us back to the past. This is also useful for the younger generation.

F. Contemporary art is necessary to reflect the problems that currently exist in society. For example, during the pandemic, graffiti was created in support of doctors who work around the clock. A gallery was also created where their work was shown, how many children were waiting for their parents at home, and how important it is to appreciate doctors.

G. It's a pity that now we don't teach art history enough in drawing lessons at school. We are given a task for a lesson, but they do not teach us the basis, what kinds of currents and trends there are in art. I found lectures on art on the internet, including modern art, and I learn a lot of new things every day. The social network is full of such useful courses.
