It goes without saying that mass media is a characteristic feature of modern living. Television, newspapers, radio and the Internet inform people about events that happen every day.

As for me, I watch TV and surf the Internet to keep myself informed and entertained. I like television because it is one of the most entertaining mass media. It provides viewers with a variety of programmes: feature films, news reviews, educational programmes. Sitting in a comfortable armchair you can switch from channel to channel and choose the programme you want to watch.

On the other hand, television is losing popularity with teenagers who prefer using the Internet. The main advantage of the Internet is that it gives the possibility of searching for the necessary information and content. It’s important because schoolchildren use the Internet for educational and entertainment purposes. Another advantage of the Internet is that people can create news and information themselves by starting their own blogs and sites.

This, however, gives irresponsible Internet users a chance to place false or dangerous information on the Net. This is what I don’t like about the Internet. It would be really bad if somebody used false information preparing a school project or doing a research. So you have to be careful about choosing Internet resources for your needs.

That’s all I wanted to tell you about mass media.
