Any disasters? One guest at their home was sad after breaking some dishes, and another felt anxious E______________, but the couple laughed it off. "The fish was about 20 years old!" Claire says. "They were really concerned but we weren't. A lack of materialism is important."
The appeal has become so great that while the Smiths enjoy a regular holiday from time to time, their best travel experiences have been through home swaps. "It lets you step into someone else's life, from their music collection to the spices in their kitchen," Claire says. "It feels like staying at a friend's house. "The rewards are a 'free' holiday and a proper cultural experience. We also collect thank-you letters F______________."
