A.A small percentage of the population loves both extreme sports and a well-pressed shirt. If this combo calls to you, then all you need is a remote dangerous location and an ironing board with which you'll press your office wear. Extreme ironing is much more popular than you'd imagine. Since its inception in Oceania in 1999, a sister office has been established in Germany, as well as an institute that studies the mechanical side of the sport.
B.Tree shaping is an activity for those who need something nice and slow. By slow, we mean a few years at least. Tree shaping is the art of influencing the way trees grow so that they assume the shape of our choosing. Unlike other practices that involve 'shaping' things, this one isn't harmful to the tree and is even welcomed by sustainable farmers as it keeps the tree alive. Tree shapers have made living tables, chairs, even boats. It's a great way to reconnect with nature and observe the gradual changing of things.
C.Toy voyaging, a hobby where a toy is passed from one person to another to travel around the world — is real. We can't help but wonder whether the hit film Améliestarted it or if it was something else. Toy voyaging is a low-maintenance hobby. All that's requested of you is to take a toy with you somewhere you're already going, take a picture of it at your destination, update the previous owners, and pass it on. Then, stay tuned to watch your fluffy friend get passed on and experience exciting new places and people.
D.Any Harry Potter admirers would appreciate this wonderful sport has come to life. People around the world play Quidditch, especially in colleges and universities. These real-life games don't have magic in their rules. It was Harry Potter lovers who recreated the sport without the use of flying brooms. The result is a unique sport that connects team spirit and an appreciation of the fine fantasy arts, and we heard that you can find a dedicated team of players in most parts of the world.
E.Volcano surfing is presumably one of the most dangerous hobbies you have ever heard of. It is an outdoor activity performed on volcano slopes. Riders hike up and slide down, similar to snowboarding. It was only a matter of time, perhaps, before the sport migrated from mountains of snow to the ash plains of active volcanoes. Potential dangers include falling off and possibly getting cut by the rough volcanic rocks or inhaling toxic gas. Volcano surfing was invented in 2004 by Daryn Webb, who took to the black slopes of the Cerro Negro volcano in Nicaragua on a mattress.
F.Stargazing is another unusual hobby. Just looking at the stars might sound boring to some. However, stargazers also identify constellations, observe the moon, and many other things. There is so much to look at out there, and, with the Internet, you can easily find all the information you need to make sense of the night sky. To begin stargazing, you do not need a telescope. All you have to do is go to an area far away from the cities with their light pollution and look up to the sky at night. If you want to make it more interesting, by all means, get a telescope.
G.Geocaching is like a treasure hunt. It is an increasingly popular and fun hobby that brings technology, adventure, and nature together, a combination that some people didn't think was possible. A hand-held GPS receiver or an app on your phone guides you to a destination, where a hidden container is stored. Once found, you log your visit in an included logbook. There is also a rule: if you take something, leave something of equal or higher value.
