Writing a letter or e-mail is part of the English exam. This is a basic task that is aimed at testing the examinee's knowledge of the basic rules of the English language, in particular the ability to compose texts in the style of an informal, personal letter.
In order to successfully cope with this task, you need to follow a few tips:
- Carefully read the task and the given text (a piece from a friend's letter in English).
- As you read the given text, highlight the main questions that should be addressed in the response e-mail.
- Make a plan of your reply letter. Write your letter according to plan. Do not forget to express thanks for the letter received in the beginning part of your text, joy for receiving the letter again and, perhaps, an apology for not immediately writing a response. In the main body of the letter, answer the three questions asked. At the end of the letter, mention further contacts, say goodbye and sign off.
- Count the number of words in the written text.
- Check your text for communication performance, text organization and language design.
