1. Read the instructions and do the task

Imagine that your friend and you are doing a school project "Eating at home or eating out". You have found some photos to illustrate it but for technical reasons you cannot send them now. Leave a voice message to your friend explaining your choice of the photos and sharing some ideas about the project. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:

explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;

mention the advantages (1–2) of the two kinds of eating places;

mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two kinds of eating places;

express your opinion on the subject of the project — which of the eating places presented in the pictures you prefer and why.

You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences).

You have to talk continuously.

Communicative achievement: The task is done: 1 aspect is not covered (the rest of the aspects are fully covered), OR 1–2 aspects are not fully/accurately covered. There are 12–15 phrases.

Organisation: The answer is logical and complete (there is an introductory phrase addressing a friend, there is a final phrase). Linking devices are used correctly.

Language: The vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation answer the requirements of the task (no more than 3 minor lexical and grammatical mistakes are allowed AND/OR no more than 3 minor pronunciation mistakes).

Score: 2

Communicative achievement: The task is not completely done: 1 aspect is not covered and 1 aspect is not fully covered, OR 3 aspects are not fully/accurately covered. There are 10–11 phrases.

Organisation: The statement is mostly logical and has a rather complete character, BUT there is no introductory phrase addressing a friend OR a closing paragraph AND/OR not enough linking devices are used.

Language: The vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation answer the requirements of the task (no more than 4–5 lexical and grammatical mistakes are allowed (no more than 2 of them are serious) AND/OR no more than 4–5 pronunciation mistakes (no more than 2 of them are serious) are allowed).

Score: 1

Communicative achievement: The task is partly done: 1 aspect is not covered and 2 aspects are not fully/accurately covered, OR 2 aspects are not covered (the rest of the aspects are fully covered) OR all the aspects are not fully/accurately covered. There are 8–9 phrases.

Organisation: The answer is not entirely logical and is not complete, OR there are no introductory and closing phrases, AND/OR not enough linking devices are used.

Language: The vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation partly answer the requirements of the task (no more than 6–7 lexical and grammatical mistakes are allowed (no more than 3 of them are serious) AND/OR no more than 6–7 pronunciation mistakes (no more than 3 of them are serious) are allowed).

Score: 0

Communicative achievement: The task is not done (less than 50% of the task is done): 3 or more aspects are not covered, OR 2 aspects are not covered and more than 1 aspect are not fully/accurately covered, OR 1 aspect is not covered and the rest of the aspects are not fully/accurately covered, OR there are 7 or less phrases.

Organisation: The answer is not logical AND/OR is not complete, there are no introductory and closing phrases, not enough linking devices are practically not used.

Language: It is difficult to understand the answer because of the numerous mistakes (there are 8 or more lexical and grammatical mistakes OR 4 and more lexical and grammatical mistakes are serious, AND/OR 8 or more pronunciation mistakes OR 4 or more pronunciation mistakes that are serious, AND/OR the answer is a set of words.

Notes:

If the student gets 0 points for the criterion "Communicative achievement", their answer is evaluated at 0 points for all the criteria.

Correct use of logical devices assumes that the student uses logical devices between all parts of the answer.

Serious mistakes are the ones that break the communication, as well as those that are made in elementary level constructions:

Adjectives: comparative and superlative degrees

Articles (when they change the meaning of the sentence)

Countable and uncountable nouns with much/many (How much/how many)

Future actions (will, going to, Present Сontinuous)

Imperatives

Modals — can/could, have to, should

Passive voice (Present and Past Simple)

Present and Past Continuous

Present and Past Simple

Possessive case of nouns

Prepositions of time: on/in/at

Present Perfect

Pronouns

There + to be

Verb + ing: like/hate/love doing

Word order in statements and questions

Языковое оформление высказывания: Понимание высказывания затруднено из-за многочисленных ошибок (8 и более лексико-грамматических ошибок ИЛИ 4 и более грубых лексико-грамматических ошибок И/ИЛИ 8 и более фонетических ошибок ИЛИ 4 и более грубых фонетических ошибок) ИЛИ ответ носит характер набора слов

Примечания:

При получении экзаменуемым 0 баллов по критерию «Решение коммуникативной задачи» всё задание оценивается в 0 баллов.

Правильное использование средств логической связи предполагает обязательные логические связки-переходы между всеми частями высказывания.

Под грубыми ошибками понимаются ошибки элементарного уровня, а также ошибки, ведущие к сбою коммуникации.
